Earth Day - April 22 is full of symbolism and traditionally in BalBok is celebrated with a special event. For 2019 this is tomorrow's mobile point in Kozloduy municipality.
It has a new location: town of Kozloduy, parking in front of the municipality building, and the same working hours - from 10:00 to 16:00. The Municipality of Kozloduy and BalBok Engineering have successfully started last year the System for Collection of Hazardous Waste on the territory of the municipality.
Earth Day
On December 14, 1930, Bulgaria was the first country in the world to celebrate Earth Day. The day is marked by the proposal of the then Minister of Agriculture and State Property Grigor Vassilev - a famous Bulgarian politician, journalist and lawyer.
His idea receives broad support from agriculture ministers from all over Europe. The feast of Bulgarian land is an occasion for the organizers to take the initiative to establish an International Earth Day. The idea is strongly supported by the President of the International Agricultural Institute in Rome.
For the first time, Earth Day is officially celebrated on April 22, 1970 in the United States and Canada. Bulgaria is one of the first countries to join Earth's international Earth Day commencement since 1990. On April 22, 1992, Bulgaria signed the oath in the name of the Earth.
Each year, the International Earth Day Network coordinates the actions of more than 12,000 partners in 174 countries to protect the planet Earth and preserve life on it. The network seeks to create broad civil support for sustainable and effective environmental development policies around the world.
