Separate waste collection for cleaner air. 3d International BAS Conference

BalBok Engineering took part in the 3rd International Conference on Separate Waste Collection - 3d International BAS Conference, held on October 11th (Thursday) 2018 at Sofia City Hotel, Sofia. The Conference, devoted to the various waste streams that Sofia Municipality collects and treats within the Waste Management System and through recovery organizations is organized by BAS Municipality Project.
The conference is organized within the framework of a project of Sofia Municipality "Stimulating Citizenship in Recycling Processes" (BAS), financed under the Balkan - Mediterranean Transnational Cooperation Program (2014 - 2020), with 6 partner organizations from European countries - Sofia, Vary - Bula - Vuljenti, Athens (Greece), Limassol (Cyprus) and Tirana (Albania), supported by the Technical University "St. Kliment Ohridski "in the town of Bitola, Macedonia.
BalBok participated in the conference as a long-term partner of Sofia Municipality in the effort to collect, separate and subsequently treat specific household waste.
Dr. Ralitsa Anguelova, Executive Director of BalBok Engineering AD, presented How does the system for treatment of hazardous waste from households in Sofia Municipality work. The system is a result of the joint efforts of the Municipality and BalBok. It is one of the best practices, popular and successful, and has been applied on the territory of Sofia for seventh consecutive years.
The hosts from Sofia Municipality presented the following topics:
Forming of habits for separate collection of household waste: Yoanna Hristova - Deputy Mayor in the "Green System, Ecology and Land Use" Department;
Large-scale Waste and Ambient Air Quality: Peter Traykov, Director of the Waste Management Directorate;
Regular inspections and initiatives: old tires, waste oils, waste incineration in the open - eng. Veska Georgieva, director of Sofia Inspectorate.
The event was opened with a welcome speech by the mayor of Sofia Municipality, Yordanka Fandakova. Media attended.
